This defect occurs when a cartridge sits unused for a very long time (more than a year) and the cleaning blade and the OPC drum are in contact. When the cartridge is finally used the cleaning blade pulls a strip of drum coating along the contacted area. Also, we have seen a similar defect when a cartridge sits outside the printer and is exposed to light which causes a sunburn effect on the OPC drum. The OPC drum will have to be replaced.

Tips to trouble free printing.
Do not stand or store cartridge on its ends /// Do not expose cartridge to sunlight or to any light for a prolonged period of time /// Never touch OPC drum surface (shiny cylindrical shaped object under cartridge flap) /// Turn off printer when not using it for an extended period of time. /// Do not attempt to disassemble cartridge.

Sick Printer
Is your printer misbehaving? Printing foreign charaters, freezing up or displaying an array of blinking LEDs. The gremlins/menehunes are hard at work. Try unplugging or turning off the surge protector to your machine for about 10 - 15 minutes. If you need to please save your setting before powering down. It has worked on several TV's (almost tossed them); As well as, our computers and printers. I'm guessing anything with a computer chip in it may get lost running thousands of lines of code from time to time.
